![]() Newsletter for The Positive Living Center #0004 February 07, 2010Healing in our own way People have different ideas of what healing is. Some people will seek Natural Health Care because they want to take charge of their health instead of just cover up symptoms of poor health. Naturopathy believes in getting to the root of the problem that generally starts in the digestive tract. If food stops digesting properly then poisons are created in the body that are stored in different organs depending on which area of the intestines is under stress. Many of the things people eat coat the insides of the intestines and stop the body from absorbing the nutrients properly if they are being digested at all. It should take about 12 to 16 hours at most for people to digest a meal but because most people aren't digesting their food properly it could take up to 25 hours or more which create the toxins that linger. The only true way of healing is to get to the source of the problem even when it may take a while. Digestive problems can take a few weeks to several months to correct because it takes a while to get the intestinal flora and enzymes back in balance for digestion and absorption. The condition that the body is in took a long time to develop and when people take something that covers the symptom like an antacid the cause just continues to be ignored and goes deeper into the cells and eventually creates a more serious condition than the original one. Some people may take pills for acid reflux for years when the problem can actually be corrected in a couple of minutes with the correct information, while other digestive problems can be taken care of by simply taking digestive enzymes or drinking more water before a meal. Cancer for example is a condition that takes years to develop and will only show up a couple of weeks before it is diagnosed with blood tests, cutting it out only appears to relieve the symptom instead of the cause. Cancer grows in an oxygen less environment created partially by digestive problems and stress. If food isn't breaking down properly it gets what it needs to thrive on instead of what it needs to correct itself. Bringing the body back into balance by getting the digestive process working again is a key factor which is never focused on by people that only believe that symptom suppression is the only way. Symptom suppression once again only focuses on making the condition appear to go away which usually damages all areas of the body when the root cause is ignored. So the goal of a Naturopath is to reverse the acid condition by rebuilding the body to a state of natural balance with what people eat, drink and think. Anger, stress and frustration can completely shut down the digestive process and stop anything from digesting. Eating while on the run or when driving a car will stop food from digesting. It is important to be relaxed after eating so that the stomach and intestines can do the job they were created for. Being angry at people at work, home or on the road can disrupt digestion so it can be important when people find themselves upset to let go of it if possible till later. Getting rid of anger is substantially under-rated and can help Getting rid of liquids like coffee, sodas and alcohol will allow the body to remain hydrated allowing the food to pass through properly. Proper hydration is much more important than people realize and needs to be taken into consideration. When people understand that a cup of coffee, a can of soda or a ounce of alcohol needs 7 equal amounts of water to flush those toxins out it is easy to understand how the body gets dehydrated and corrections can be made safely and easily for just pennies. It is a choice every time something is put in the mouth. Are these products going to digest together? Because the digestive system rules the body. Indiscriminate eating is a root cause of symptoms of poor health. Advertisers will tell people whatever they need to know to get them to buy a product.
